Independence Park and Other Historical Sites

Independence Hall (5th and Chestnut Streets):

Walking to Independence Hall is one of our favorite things to do in the city. Okay, it’s not our favorite, but it’s mine and Josh comes with me…

At the park, you can hang out in the shade outside of Independence Hall, or you can go inside for tours of the different buildings. It’s free, but you have to get a ticket from the Independence Hall Visitor Center if you want to go into Independence Hall. The Visitor’s Center is located at 6th and Market Streets. You can either pick up tickets on the day you want to visit or you can reserve them for $1.50 per ticket. You can find more information for tickets here.

There are other great historical attractions around Independence Hall, like Betsy Ross’ house, Christ Church (Ben Franklin’s final resting place), and the Liberty Bell (there’s actually much, much more, but if you walk around the area, you’ll find things on your own). All of these places are within walking distance of the hotel.

Getting There:

Walking: To Independence Hall/Liberty Bell, the walk from the Hyatt is about 15 minutes.
You can always take a cab, but it is a very nice walk on some cobblestone streets and through the historic neighborhoods. The concierge will be able to guide you in the right direction.

We do not recommend driving.
