Shuttle - You Know You Want To Take It

Everyone is doing it. . .

Round-trip transportation will be provided for all guests to the ceremony and reception. The shuttle will pick up guests at the Hyatt. You do not need to stay at the Hyatt to use the shuttle. Also, you may park at the Hyatt even if you are not staying there.

Day/Evening: $17/valet and $10/self park
Overnight: $27/valet and $21/self park

Shuttle Pick-up Time:

The shuttle will begin to shuttle guests from the Hyatt to the church at 3:00 pm. It will continue to make loops between the hotel and church until all guests have been picked up (most likely it will make 2-3 stops at the hotel). You must be in the hotel lobby at 3:00 pm to be ensured a spot. The shuttle will bring all guests back to the Hyatt following the ceremony.

The concierge at the Hyatt will have more details the day of the wedding.

One Last Thing: FOOD

Philadelphia has a TON of great places to eat. If you are looking for something other than a cheesesteak, below are some of our suggestions.

One of the features this city has to offer are BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze) restaurants. This is a great option because you can save money on alcohol and most restaurants can keep their prices lower since they don't have to pay for a liqour license. Below are our favorite BYOBs:

*BYOBs are CASH ONLY!*

La Viola (On 16th Street, between Spruce and Locust Streets )*: This restaurant has a delicious Italian menu (I recommend the Lobster Ravioli). This is also the restaurant we had dinner at the night we got engaged! Reservations are strongly recommended. 253 South 16th Street/215-735-8630
*To help meet the demand for tables at La Viola, a second restaurant, La Viola Ovest, was opened across the street. Their menu is similar to the original and just as good.

Lolita (On 13th Street, between Sansom and Chestnut Streets): Bring your own tequila and Lolita will provide the margarita mix. Right now they are featuring a Bloody Orange mix and it's awesome. It's a little pricey here, but so worth the money. Portions are big and the taste is phenomenal.

Here is an extensive guide to BYOBs (PDF document) in the area. The areas you will want to check out are (listed by closest to furthest distance from the Hyatt): Queen's Village/South Street/Society Hill, Old City, Washington Square West, Chinatown, and Rittenhouse Square.

Here are some non-BYOB restuarants in the area:

Pietro's Coal Oven
Continental

La Scala's
Jones
Haru Sushi

There are a number of restaurants in Head House Square, which is about a 10 minute walk from the Hyatt (around 2nd and Pine Streets).

Dessert

Both of these places are within walking distance of the Hyatt.

Franklin Fountain: Ice Cream. Like REALLY GOOD ice cream!
116 Market Street
Between Front and 2nd Streets on Market Street

Rita's Water Ice: We suggest ordering a Gelati: layers of soft serve and water ice.
235 South Street
Between 2nd and 3rd Streets on South Street

Philadelphia Art Museum, Rocky Steps, and the Franklin Institute

A popular attraction is the Philadelphia Art Museum. The art museum houses more than 225,000 works of art and is currently hosting an Ansel Adams exhibition. It is also home to the famous Rocky Steps at the front entrance to the museum. From the top of these stairs, you will have one of the best views of the Philadelphia skyline and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway (where Live 8 was held in 2005!).

You can pose with the Rocky statue that is located at the bottom of the stairs to the right (when facing the museum).

Another great museum to visit is the Franklin Institute. It is a science museum with a lot of hands on exhibits and it's one of the most entertaining places to go. Currently, the museum is hosting a Real Pirates exhibit and you can also see the new Batman movie Dark Knight on the IMAX screen!

The Franklin Institute is a short walk down the Ben Franklin Parkway from the Art Museum.

Getting to the Art Museum and/or the Franklin Institute:

Cab: Fare will be about $15 plus tip, each way. If you have more than 4 people, you can have the hotel call for a van taxi to transport more people at a time for the same fare.

Walking: It will take about 45 minutes from the Hyatt – ask your concierge for the best route. It’s a long walk, but you can always take a cab half way (perhaps to Rittenhouse Square to hang out in the park for a little) and then make your way to the museum which is about a 20 minute walk from there.

Car: You can always drive, but there is limited parking in the city and navigating the city can be confusing (especially on a weekend when there may be various road closures due to events). If you choose to drive, your concierge will be able to map out a route for you.
